Director of Contemporary Music Ministry Five Forks Campus

General Profile of the Role

The Director of Contemporary Worship will be a musically-gifted, spiritually-mature, biblically-grounded Christian leader responsible for contemporary worship ministries at Advent under the direction of our Executive Director. The ideal candidate has experience leading creative contemporary worship at a similar sized church and experience shepherding worship teams.


  • Work with the pastoral team to plan the Contemporary Worship Services.
  • Collaborate regularly with the Director of Traditional Music Ministry and team to develop and implement creative worship.
  • Lead the planning, creation and execution of contemporary musical portion of worship services.
  • Lead all contemporary music ministries in the church and implement contemporary worship best practices.
  • Develop a process to regularly identify and deploy new volunteers in the church’s worship ministry.
  • Shepherd, train, manage, and care for the volunteer worship teams. Develop worship leaders.
  • Develop an annual worship ministry budget and be able to work within that budget.
  • Look for ways to inspire non-musical worship experiences for the church body.
  • Work together with the church’s worship tech ministry.
  • Attend all church staff meetings and retreats.
  • Work with student ministry leaders to identify and develop musicians, vocalists and worship leaders for age-graded worship experiences within the church.
  • Serve as contemporary worship resource for multi-campus location(s).
  • Maintain high standards of excellence with the spiritual and musical development of all team members.
  • Oversee the maintenance of all musical instruments owned by the church.


  • Loves creating authentic worship experiences with an engaging atmosphere. It is a passion and fuels your fire!
  • 5 years experience leading worship in a similar church setting.
  • Significant skill as a vocalist, instrumentalist and in the technology components of worship ministries.
  • Broad knowledge of contemporary Christian worship music.
  • Proficient in reading music.
  • Excellence in relational, communication and administrative skills.
  • Should have experience building, leading and managing volunteer teams.
  • Bachelor’s degree. Some formal training in music (and specifically church music) is preferred.
  • A lifestyle congruent with the biblical requirements for leaders (1 Tim. 3:1-13; 2 Tim. 2; Titus 1:5-9).
  • A calling to ministry which models servant leadership.
  • Carry out other duties as assigned.

Technical Producer of Worship

General Profile of the Role
The Technical Producer of Worship for Advent UMC will be responsible for one of the most important roles in the live and online worship experiences. The ideal candidate will have knowledge and proven experience in overseeing our Audio, Video and Lighting departments. A successful candidate must have a growing relationship with Jesus Christ and continue to promote our mission which is fishin’, to make disciples of Jesus Christ for the transformation of the world.

It is important to know that this position is more than a “gig”. This person will train, equip and lead AV volunteers. Have experience in leading AV productions for a church of 1000 or more (and even better if experience in working in a multi-site campus). Competency with attention to detail in live production and online broadcast.

Position Structure and Compensation
Part-time, hourly position with an understood commitment of 8-10 hours per week, on average, including Sunday mornings and other evenings for rehearsals. This would include and not limited to all worship services and rehearsals as described by the supervisor.

Guidance for this position will be offered by the Director of Facilities and Technology

Expertise in FOH audio, video and lighting. Familiar with Allen & Heath D-Live Console, ProPresenter, Planning Center and Mac Computers. Certifications and licenses a plus.

Greater Initiative

Jesus said, “Very truly, I tell you, the one who believes in me will also do the works that I do and, in fact, will do GREATER things than these, because I am going to the Father.” – John 14:12 (NRSV)

The primary goal of the Greater Initiative is to help all of us in our growth as disciples by taking a step in financial generosity so that we might experience the Greater things God has for us. Our hope is that everyone will take their next faith step in financial giving by placing trust in God through extravagant generosity. Sharing God’s gifts enables our church to expand ministry impact to accomplish Greater things than we could ever imagine. Associate Director of Student Ministry

At Advent, our mission is fishin’, to make disciples of Jesus Christ for the transformation of the world. The primary responsibility of the Associate Director of Student Ministries (ADSM) is to advance Advent UMC’s mission by engaging with students, parents and volunteers. Additionally, the ADSM will develop relationships and ministry systems which enable and foster this mission. This role represents a ministry partnership whereby the Associate Director and Director will collaborate in all ministry strategies and efforts throughout the ministry as they work together to implement these plans.

General Profile of the Role
The ADSM will join our team and become a contributing member of the ministry team that fishes for the next generation. This person is a committed Christian leader with a passion and calling for ministering to young people. This role will partner with the Director of Student Ministries to equip youth for ministry as the two work together to create synergies for carrying out detailed ministry plans. The ADSM will also exemplify a growing Christian faith and a character and lifestyle congruent with the biblical requirements of a leader (1 Tim 3:1-13, 2 Tim 2, Titus 1:5-9).

Position Structure and Compensation
Full time work week and salary commensurate with experience and abilities.


  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent ministry experience.
  • Lead the church’s efforts to minister with and to youth in cooperation with the Director of Student Ministries.
  • Assist in recruiting, developing, and deploying new volunteers for the church’s student ministry.
  • Ability to lead and influence people effectively in order to create a safe, fun environment conducive for spiritual growth.
  • Vision casting and creation of environments where students can connect with each other and our LifeGroup Leaders in cooperation with the Director of Student Ministries.
  • Help and assist the Director of Student Ministry develop and maintain the student ministries budget.
  • Assist in developing the Student Ministries calendar which provides for our student’s physical, emotional, and mental needs through God’s Word.
  • A desire to teach and mentor youth in biblical truth with conviction, compassion, and care.
  • Share in communicator/teacher responsibilities at Student Ministries Events.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills for internal and external purposes.
  • Administrate and coordinate activities (transportation, drivers, meals, schedule, volunteers, etc.).
  • Assist in coordinating the youth in short-term mission experiences.
  • Assist in management of online communication and social media. Social Media Engagement experience is preferred.
  • Work with other church leaders to find ministry opportunities for youth in the broader church family.
  • Participate in all staff meetings and retreats.
  • Understanding of and willingness to serve within the doctrinal commitments of the church.
  • All other duties assigned by the Director of Student Ministry.

Advent Midweek

Join us for Midweek at Advent on Wednesday evenings! Midweek is taking a break for the summer and will return in September 2022!

Midweek’s weekly focus is to provide fellowship and LifeGroups for adults and kids! In order to make it more convenient to come straight from work/school, we offer an optional dinner (weekly registration required), for a minimal fee, provided before Adult LifeGroups and Kids programming begins each week.

Jean Glover Circle

Jean Glover Circle meets on the 2nd Thursday of each month, in  the Christian Life Center Dining Room at 10:00 am. We are 55 and over age group.  We have a different program each month. This is a social group of ladies that like to get together.  Our mission is Generations Home for Boys.

Meeting Time: 10:00 am, 2nd Thursday of the month (could vary)

Moms of Teens

Do you have a teenager in your home? If you do, you are well aware of the many challenges facing them and facing us as moms, every day. Join us on the 2nd and 4th Wednesdays of each month at 7:00pm for a group where we can share, learn, and support one another through this season of life.

Meeting Time: 7:00 pm, 2nd and 4th Wednesday of the month
Location: Education Building, E112
Who: The group is open to mom’s of teens of all ages (middle school, high school, and college students)

Daughters of the King

Daughters of the King is a group of women who are discovering how their faith relates to the real world and how they can maintain Christian ideals in today’s world. They study the Bible through books and RightNow Media videos.

Meeting Time: 6:30 pm on Wednesdays
Location: Education Building, E113
Who: Women, All Ages

Place of Discipleship

Place of Discipleship is composed of mostly families with children. Studies tend to be topical and of interest to parents with children. Nursery Care Provided.
