General Profile of the Role
The Guest Services Coordinator will be responsible for overseeing and coordinating the Guest Services teams at Advent United Methodist Church in order to ensure and develop a culture of consistent hospitality. The Guest Services Coordinator must understand and embrace the vision of hospitality at Advent helping our teams function at a high level in order to care for our guests. The Guest Services Coordinator’s role is to help create an environment where guests feel welcome and feel the love of Jesus Christ. This experience begins when they turn into the parking lot of Advent all the way to when they exit Advent’s campus. At Advent, we believe our Guest Services teams are on the front lines of our mission to make disciples of Jesus Christ for the transformation of the world, and the Guest Services Coordinator will play an integral role in developing these teams.

Purpose
The primary responsibility of the Guest Services Coordinator will be to develop and to lead the vision of Guest Services by managing the schedules for all of our Guest Services teams, providing training as necessary, leading our Huddle meetings on Sunday mornings, and being present on Sundays to be a resource for the Guest Services teams while ensuring consistency in hospitality for all guests. The Guest Services Coordinator will also help maintain a positive team atmosphere and an open line of communication with guest services teams using our church communication software.

Position Structure and Compensation
Part-time and commensurate with experience and abilities, year-round

Guidance for this position will be offered by the Director of Communications

Qualifications
A strong desire to work with teams and serve others
Exceptional communication skills, both written and oral
Previous experience with leading service oriented teams
Highly organized and experience with scheduling
Proficiency in computer software
Ability to collect and analyze feedback in order to develop and improve processes
Flexibility

General Profile of the Role
The Administrative Assistant to the Pastors will work and assist the pastors to support the ministry, programs, and mission of Advent United Methodist Church. At Advent, our mission is to make disciples of Jesus Christ for the transformation of the world.

Purpose
The primary responsibility of the Administrative Assistant to the Pastors is to support the administrative work of the pastors including scheduling appointments and managing correspondence, along with scheduling baptisms and assisting with funerals. The Administrative Assistant to the Pastors also works to help support the program staff and ministries of the church. This position is responsible for maintaining accurate membership records by maximizing the use of church management software, which may require running reports. The Administrative Assistant to the Pastors works to coordinate Charge Conference reports and prepares the Year End Report to the UM Greenville District Office. This position schedules and trains office volunteers and receptionists while providing hospitality for special meetings at Advent and maintaining guidelines for the Connecting Space. The Administrative Assistant assigns and maintains email addresses, copier codes, the main phone system voicemail, and other general office administration needs. Other leadership responsibilities may be assigned by the Senior Pastor.

The Executive Director (ED) will direct the day-to-day operations of the church within the context of our mission and vision, freeing the pastoral staff to focus on ministry. The ED will also develop and maintain an open and trusting relationship with the Senior Pastor creating “one like mind and voice” in leading the church.

Purpose
Primary responsibility for leading and developing staff, day-to-day operations of the church, as well as serving as a partner to the Senior Pastor in development and implementation of the church’s long-term strategic plan.

Qualifications
– Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration or equivalent degree.
– Minimum of 5 years experience in Senior Executive or equivalent position.
– Person of genuine and deepening Christian character, willing to grow as a loyal participant and leader of the church’s programs and vision.

Preferred Qualifications
– Some experience working in a church/nonprofit setting.
– Be a certified member of United Methodist Association of Church Business Administrations or have extensive knowledge of Church Business Administration is a plus.

Director of Student Ministry

Purpose:  Primary responsibility for leading a thriving Youth Ministry program driving the spiritual formation and growth of Advent United Methodist Church students (Grades 7th-12th).

Summary: Advent UMC is seeking our next full-time Director of Student Ministries who will continue to shepherd, nurture and grow Advent Student Ministries program.  Our overall Church mission is to make disciples of Jesus Christ for the transformation of the world.  At Advent, we embrace this mission and believe that students are not only the church of tomorrow; they are the church of today.  We strongly believe that it is our mission to pour into the lives of our youth and their families, while emboldening and empowering them to be disciples within and outside our church walls.

The successful candidate will have demonstrated experience in reaching and inspiring youth, ages 12 – 18, during their formative years of Christian discipleship.  We seek a mature, positive and enthusiastic yet humble leader who can work effectively as part of a team.  The Director will oversee weekly youth programming and special events for our current group of 200+ students and 60+ adult volunteer leaders, while building relationships with youth within and outside Advent UMC. In addition, the Director will serve as a mentor to our Assistant Director of Student Ministry, and both will be responsible for recruiting and equipping our team of adult volunteers.  The Youth Ministry team also includes the Director of Contemporary Music, who oversees, mentors and influences the Cross youth band and Crescendo youth choir.

The Director should have a vital, personal relationship with Jesus Christ and be committed to living and modeling a godly lifestyle inside and outside of church. S/he should have at least a college degree, coupled with relevant experience and a demonstrated passion for Youth Ministry.
