Director of Contemporary Music Scuffletown Campus

General Profile of the Role
The Director of Contemporary Music for Advent Scuffletown will be a musically-gifted, spiritually-mature leader responsible for contemporary worship at our Scuffletown campus. The ideal candidate has experience leading creative contemporary worship at another church and experience shepherding worship teams. This role will be the primary leader of music at the Scuffletown Campus, but they will work in conjunction with the vision and plans for contemporary worship at our main campus. A successful candidate must have a growing relationship with Jesus Christ and demonstrate leadership skills with a history of leading growing ministries. Because we are a church plant, this person should be passionate about building relationships within our congregation and the community, willing to think outside the box, and skillful at helping people grow as disciples. Church plants are exciting in that they allow for creativity and innovation, but flexibility is also a must, and at times this role could include other duties as assigned by the Campus Pastor.

Responsibilities
This person will work with the Campus Pastor, as well as the other pastors and musicians on our staff to plan Contemporary Worship at our Scuffletown campus. They will work in conjunction with the Director of Contemporary Worship at our Five Forks Campus in regularly identifying and deploying new volunteers, and helping to shepherd, train and manage the volunteer worship teams at Scuffletown. This person will work together with the tech ministry and oversee the maintenance of all musical equipment owned by the church.

Position Structure and Compensation
Part-time, hourly position with an understood commitment of 10-15 hours per week, on average. There is potential for the position to grow as the church grows.

Position Accountability
Guidance for this position will be offered by the Advent Scuffletown Campus Pastor.

Qualifications
This person should love creating authentic worship experiences with an engaging atmosphere. Significant skill as a vocalist, instrumentalist and in the technological components of worship ministry is expected. A college degree as well as some formal training in music is preferred, but equivalent experienced will be considered. The individual should have the desire and ability to be creative, while also being able to work well in a team environment. The candidate should be actively seeking to grow in faith and be prepared to help lead others in their faith growth.

About our Church
The first campus of Advent United Methodist Church was established in 1987, and is one of the largest United Methodist Churches in South Carolina. Advent Scuffletown is a new campus of AUMC, that will begin worship in a school about 6 miles from the original campus. They have already begun hosting events in the target community, and plan to launch weekly worship within the next year. Advent is a dynamic and growing congregation, situated in the Five Forks community in Greenville, SC, which has been recognized as one of the top areas within the United States for growth and quality of life.
